I will take more (better) pictures of the blue chiffon dress soon, in the meanwhile, here is the original idea behind it. Something ethereal, whimsical, and apparently - see through!

I am humbled by the high standards some of you keep me to and I am sorry that at times I do not live up to them :o). I am not a professional photographer, not a professional.. anything for that matter. I do what I love and try to get better at it as I go along. I thank you for your patience when at times I come short.

Also, while I do realize the comfort and security in remaining anonymous, and while you are more than welcome to share your thoughts in whatever way you choose, do not feel constrained to hiding your identity when your feedback is less than positive. I do appreciate constructive criticism and your opinions are always welcome.

Yes, as you can see, when it comes to the Christmas tree - we fake it ;o).

I was working on this chiffon dress last week. It's loosely structured from a couple of different layers and it drapes beautifully when belted.

I do not think people change. I think some people adjust to their environments, others learn to cope and there are those who manage to refine themselves. At the core, however, I believe our substance remains.

This picture of me was taken when I was 19, so about five years ago. In that time I have taught myself caution and reserve, I have let go of notions and people, but in essence, I am the same. It is our aspirations, above all else, that define us.

Now, there is a reason behind this literary intermission. It has been a year since I started (or more precisely - came back to) this blog. Thank you for reading, for being part of my journey and thank you to so many of you whose blogs I read every day, for letting me partake in yours.

It is high time for Question and Answer. Ask whatever you have wondered about in the comment section or e-mail me. I will answer on Friday.

Here are some pictures from the second part of my trip. I finally got home last night and am very glad I had a day to recuperate before going back to school tomorrow (oh dreaded Monday). Words cannot express the amazing time I had en el gran pais de Mexico. The places were beautiful and the people I had the chance to meet were incredible.

I am very happy I got to share this amazing experience with Marlene. I love you, honey, with all my heart.

Before I left I had this idea of blogging every night to let you guys know how I'm doing and to share my experiences as I go. As it turns out, I've been rather time-constricted. I'm having so much fun exploring that I don't have any strength left by the time I make it back to the hotel room.

This trip has truly charged me up, I was literally running on empty. As you've seen on the pictures and probably guessed - I'm in Mexico City! It's the most amazing, vibrant and unique city I have been to. It's a place of contradictions that for some reason do not appear in conflict with each other. You can tell I'm excited.. I wish I could articulate myself better, all I can say is - this city is truly fantastic and absolutely fascinating.

I'm here with Marlene who got sick yesterday. So sick we had to call the doctor. Thankfully our hotel had one on staff.. eerie and convenient. I was out on my own for part of the day and did not get kidnapped! I must say the city exceeded my expectations in the safety area. And the people, the people are so incredibly kind and respectful.

Anyway, tomorrow we are heading for another destination. A trip within a trip! Will report back shortly :o).

Chasing the Fox

The first four photos I wanted to share because I have been getting a lot of questions about where I live. I go to school in Boise, Idaho and as you see, we have foxes running around the streets. My mom and I spotted this fox the other day on our way to a party, and took a detour trying to chase it down. Two days ago I saw a couple of deer in front of the State Capitol Building, unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at that time. Exotic, I know!

This past week tested the limits of my multitasking skills and I am understandably very happy for the little breath of air of the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm rewarding myself with a little trip, hence the last photo. I literally took it a minute ago while sitting at the gate and waiting for my flight (delayed flight). I have a late-night LAX connection and by the time I get to my destination, it will be early in the morning. Traveling is one of the few things that get me excited.

I'm planning on sharing my little trip with you, guys, hopefully I will have internet access where I'm going.

I'm glad you guys don't mind the fuzzy spot, I choose to think of it as an "effect" and sort of like it haha. The warning sign on the previous post is actually on our land, my stepdad is a proud gun owner. We are in the wild, wild west after all :o). Thankfully there are not many trespassers in our part of the woods.. err desert.

Top: Random thermo-top. Pretty shade of blue.

Scarf: I think I told you the story, I got this scarf from my grandmother and she in turn got it 40 years ago from a Russian friend of hers. Love this piece, it's very dramatic. To call it oversized would be an understatement.

I feel very fortunate to have the prairie as a backdrop :o). It's been such a great weekend, very sunny, very warm. Starting tomorrow, the weather is supposed to drastically deteriorate which is unfortunate. Driving in the snow is not my forte. Come to think of it, driving in general is not haha.

Dress: Urban Outfitters. . I rarely go out shopping so I was very lucky to stumble upon a great UO sale last week where I scored this little floral number for $15.

I am so glad you guys liked the dress, I can't wait to get it done and take proper photos. Which reminds me, I should promptly invest in a new tripod since my old one didn't make my last trans-Atlantic trip. Especially with night photos, my hand is just not steady enough.

Jacket: Polo Ralph Lauren. I have had this for a couple of years now and I can't see myself ever giving it up.

P.S. I am currently working on some custom mummy dress orders, once I am ready with these I will list some in my store. Unfortunately balancing school and designing/sewing got particularly difficult all of the sudden. It seems like all of my professors simultaneously woke up and decided to delegate a semester worth of projects in the remaining few weeks. On a brighter note, just a couple more weeks..

Halloween

So my Halloween plans did not come to fruition, I ended up having my night out on Friday instead of Saturday night, which actually worked out pretty well in the end. I took some pictures around my neighborhood on Halloween, some people went all out in decorating their houses, all the more fun for the kids!

Anyway, forgive the messy hair and "fresh" face haha, I wanted to take some pictures of this dress and share. It's not ready yet, there are plenty of finishing touches to be done, but you get the general idea. I thought of being a dark angel, but now looking at it I think a pointy witch hat suits it better than wings :o).

I've been wearing my faux fur shawl a lot lately, it's super warm and super soft. I made the mistake of washing it a couple of months ago and the texture changed from silky to fluffy. I happen not to mind one bit :o).

There is this magnificent canyon close to where I live. My mom and I drove by it the other day and took some pictures. There's something special about the desolate beauty of the desert.

Winter florals

Saturday my mom and I went out to celebrate her birthday. We had an amazing time. At dinner I went a bit overboard with the lobster, mostly because the only way I consume it is drowned in butter. Two days later, I'm still feeling all the cholesterol. It reminded me of Julia Child and her take on French cuisine. She championed using prolific amounts of butter certain it made everything taste better and I have to agree. Too much of the food these days is sucked out of taste to make it microwave-able or "healthy" which is unfortunate.

A bit more fashion-related, I got this dress done two months ago. When I found the fabric I envisioned the perfect summer dress, unfortunately by the time it was ready, summer had already gone by. Nevertheless, with the aid of opaque stockings, the dress transitions nicely into the colder months. What I love most about it is how it moves with the body. The skirt is made of a couple of layers and it's got a great flow.

My friend Jorge and I have a date every Thursday and I managed to bring my camera with me last time for our walk. So these Cynthia Vincent booties I got about two weeks ago are the exact same shade of black as the UO jeans and I very much enjoy the seamless transition from jean to boot that's happening when I wear them together. What I need now is a bunch of chunky sweaters and I'm pretty much set for the season :o).

Oh and as you can see, I tried to do the braided-bangs look. Almost forgot what my forehead looked like. My bangs have grown to a point where I either have to get them trimmed or let them grow and I can't decide. What I want is for my hair to finally grow out. I'm not too happy with the last haircut I got. There are all these displaced layers in it that I can only manage when I pin my hair back.. On a hair-related note, I'm thinking of going red! A lighter shade of red. What do you guys think?
