When it comes to spring and summer, there are several pieces/silhouettes/concepts that fascinate me. One of them is the maxi dress. I found these magazine scans on TFS a couple of months ago, and they portray exactly what I mean.
Considering how androgynous style is becoming, long dresses have been cast away as something too definitive in their femininity . Or too constrictive, since they're closely associated with either formal affairs or the beach. But I'm not talking about anything Cavalli-esque. When it comes to daywear, I've never been a fan of clothes wearing the person. I'd rather have it the other way around with natural fabrics, solid colors, an easy flow.. And a biker or safari-jacket on top for a bit of whimsy in the city.

fashion really is a collective unconscious! i was just thinking today, id love to do some maxi dresses just in a solid color. kate moss wore a green maxi dress/leather jacket combo to the topshop new york opening, and the matthew williamson collection for h&m that opens today features a gorgeous maxi dress paired with a leather jacket. i guess great minds think alike? :o)
Omgosh I LOVE the one you have in the picture! argh if it weren't for my shopping ban I'd totally buy one now.. I love it!! Just one solid color with a jean/leather jacket over it. sooo perfect for the spring/summer!!

maxi dresses are great especially for us here in manila. the country being very tropical, the weather's humid most of the time. maxi dresses are perfect because they're not fussy, yet can still protect most of your body from the more-often-than-not-God-awful-heat :)
I'm not sure if I would wear it myself, but I really like that dress she is wearing in the picture!
i'm used to seeing like the plain jersey maxi dresses out on the streets, but i agree - - - i love the idea of something a little more voluminous with a more structured topper. gorgeous@

its hard for me to pull off the maxi dress, but i think they are beautiful! you would look awesome in one.
