I came back to Bulgaria yesterday to finish the dresses and some other projects I'm working on. I took care of some stuff in Sofia and today my boyfriend and I headed to the mountains. We spent the first half of the day skiing and in the early afternoon we headed to my village, Shiroka Luka. This is the place I've spent most of my childhood, my grandmother still lives here. It is so incredibly beautiful, I'll post some more pictures tomorrow. Anyway, so at this time every year there is a big festival. It's a folklore holiday, where the young men of the village dress up as monsters so they can scare away the bad spirits. It's all done in the hope that the present year will be better than the one we're leaving behind.
As for fashion - I'm wearing my brother's sweater :). The white-and-red knit bracelets are for health and luck, typical Bulgarian. You stock up on as many as you can before March, and on March 1st you give one away to every friend you have. You wear them until you see a stork. When you see one, you take it off and tie it to a tree branch.
Anyway, enough trivia for today.

Your brothers jumper suits you! When I was in Bulgaria we took the time to visit the villages and meet some of the people. I love the relaxed way of life in the Bulgarian villages. Places where there is still a real sense of community. We stayed in Sunny beach which was nothing to write home in comparison to the wonderful villages. Thanks for putting the pictures up, it was really interesting to be able to see this festival :)

We have a similar tradition in Romania for March 1, we call it "martisor", and we pin the red and white threads to our clothing, as a broche.
Last time I told you that you remind me of Audrey Hepburn. In fact, as somebody said above, you also have a Cate Blanchett air, plus a bit of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
